Election of Executive Council Members for 2021/2022

Congratulations and Thank-you to the Incoming Executive Council Members for 2021/2022

  • President – Cori Huizer

Executive Council Positions Still Available

Secretary – to attend both Executive and Staff Rep meetings (two afternoon/evenings per month) and records the minutes of the meetings

Treasurer – to be Chair of the Finance Committee and works closely with our Office Manager, Alana, who makes sure all budgets are up-to-date; to report to both Executive Council and Staff Reps at the 2 meetings/month on the monthly budget updates (all in conjunction with Alana, no need for extensive budget knowledge) and any General Meetings we may have (ie Annual General Meeting in April/May and usually a General Meeting in October/November). To sit on the Personnel Committee which oversees the Office Manager position and workings of the VTA office. For more information, please contact Barry Dorval at treasurer@vernonta.com.

Professional Development Chair – includes a 0.2 FTE position at the VTA office. Main responsibilities are chairing the District PD Committee, serving on the Bargaining Committee, coordinating the February Zone conference with the Okanagan PD Chairs and local Professional Development days (ie May 21 district non-instructional day), attending both the Executive and Staff Rep meetings, and administering PD funds to schools. Local Aboriginal Education Contact – shall attend all Joint Committee meetings that relate to Aboriginal education and employment matters, work on communications with the District Aboriginal Education Department and the district, attend BCTF Zone conferences (3 times a year) and attend both the Executive Council and Staff Rep meetings (2 times/month).

TTOC Rep – shall maintain communication with all TTOCs in the district, attend both Executive Council and Staff rep meetings to be the voice for TTOCs, coordinate meetings and other opportunities for TTOCs to meet and feel part of the education community.

**We hope to fill these spots by our next Staff Rep meeting on Thursday, May 13 where the Staff Reps will either vote or accept the members in their positions (by acclamation).
