Fill a Purse For a Woman In Need
The VTA belongs to the North Okanagan Labour Council and attend meetings once a month on your behalf. The NOLC’sWomen’s Committee has organized an International Women’s Day project to run throughout the month of March. The project is called “Fill a purse for women in need.” The poster describes the details.
If you are not able to physically drop off items at the BCGEU office in Kelowna, the NOLC will accept donations to be used to purchase gift cards to be placed into each purse. A cheque is preferred and the committee will purchase the gift cards.
As this runs through our Spring Break, the VTA asks that you take the items to Kelowna or send a cheque. Unfortunately, the VTA Office won’t be open to gather the items ourselves.
The purse should be a “cross body style” in order that the person using it has it secured to her body so no one is able to easily take it. The purses will be distributed to Women’s & Teen Shelters and Outreach Agencies within our North Okanagan area.
